I was never that good at English, specially in writing. I am still learning the language each day. For last couple of years I got kinda semi-addicted to the English movies and by that virtue, my listening skills developed notably. As I had to study in English medium in my Grad-school and now I read a fair amount of blogs and technical news/reviews in English, I maintain a read habit as well. But in case of writing that picture in not the same. My writing skill hadn’t enough chance to grow up.
When you are in a position that you have to interact with people from different parts of the world in English and most of them use English as their first language, you have to have moderately fair English writing skill. I realized this simple, very basic thing in kinda hard way. I thought my English knowledge was adequate to communicate with others. But my assumption proved wrong embarrassingly. When you speak the language you have to worry less about grammar and none about spelling. But in writing? You missed a single preposition or spell a word like a second grader and BAM! Your skill of English got stripped naked in the crowd.
So, what should be the plan to improve the writing skill? I found one in trick that quite helpful to me. Write something and read it again and again. Each time I find some mistakes and correct that. Though it is a very basic technique, but I find it very helpful for myself to improve the writing skill without any mentor.
Then another issue came up. What should I write about? I think I am too old to go back to the school days and write essays about Cows or seasons or make up some fake stories about boating experiences. Therefore, I thought it will be safer to scribble in my personal blog. Until now very few people sneak in here. And I can write whatever I want. Choose to publish or unpublish at anytime. Moreover, can fill this place with something. Because, it’s been two years but I blogged very little of my own.
So, dear reader of this blog, please bear with me for a while, will ya’?
